A Soldiers Wish

Like a shadow I walk day and night
You complain about your 12 hour job
I can't complain about mine
Never ending days and sleepless nights
Fighting the fight to stay alive…
My heart and soul go into my job
Everyday praying for the chance  to see those I left behind…
They are the reason I keep on going and  stand strong
The one's who wait for me
Here prayer is all we can count on
So next time you complain in vain
Remember these words I say
There's nothing I wouldn't do
Or give to be in your shoes today
Not many have the strength to walk in mine
In the heat and in the grime
Just so that you can sleep comfortable at night
I do not regret the decision I made
To stand tall for my country and fight everyday
I just wish one wish and pray
God grants me the chance to see my loved ones again
Be thankful to sleep in your warm bed
To take warm showers  when  you had a long day
To have someone there to hold you at night
Only because when those things are taken away
You remember all the little things
In life those little things are the ones that count
So stop complaining and  be thankful
For what you have…
